Museo Archeologico and Amphitheatre
In the 16th century, Benedictine Monks built the cloister San Bernardo on the ancient relics of an amphitheatre from the 2nd century ,which the Archaeological Museum maintains in its rooms today. In the museum’s garden, you can still see some of the remains of the 9000 seat amphitheatre. In addition to the discoveries of the Stone-, Bronze- and Etruscan Age, the exhibition also shows impressive Roman pieces. Statues of human figures can also be seen here as well as the wonderful Mosaic and the coral-red sonority (terra sigillata), also known as Aretine vases.
